Flamish be like V I B E C H E C K with the goedendag
that's amazing he was able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory
This is by the far the most interesting and amazing battle, it was like watching a movie.
Fun fact: the phrase "schild en vriend" is a fantasy by the writer of the book "de leeuw van vlaanderen". This book is a historical fiction set in the background of the real 1302, and was written centuries later to give historical backing to the belgian nationalist, and later to the flemmisch independence movement. The funny part is that the people of flanders in 1302 did not even speak dutch as we know it now, it was called "Diets" or medieval dutch and that was the same language as half of modern germany.
Yes! Famous battle of the goedendag weapon. Imagine being an armored french knight beat to death by a Flemish peasant yelling "GOEDEN DAG! (GOOD DAY)"
