With Samantha are Russian Soyuz commander Anton Shkaplerov and NASA astronaut Terry Virts. All three are part of the Station’s Expedition 42/43 crew.

On this mission, Samantha is flying as an ESA astronaut for Italy’s ASI space agency under a special agreement between ASI and NASA. Her mission is called the Futura mission.

  1. Fun fact, the snowman hanging from the top of the capsule is Olaf from the movie Frozen. It belongs to the Russian cosmonaut's 8 year old daughter. Every soyuz mission has a small item hanging so the crew know when they're in zero g, and can see which way is up in an emergency situation.

  2. Missiles invented to deliver thermonuclear bombs now carry people to Earth's orbit for international effort for science.

Please tell me again how space programs are dead weight for budgets' of nations.

Tell me again how science is evil and god/religion is the only salvation for humanity.

Tell me again how impossible for humans to unite WITHOUT imminent mutual threat.
