Earth is not as round as you know it… π #shorts
ESAβs Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) was launched in 2009 and flew over Earth at 260 km of altitude for 4 years.
Even after the end of this mission, GOCEβs data is still being used to unearth secrets about our planet.

It's a knotty geoid as I know it.
Squishy so it's potentially flat π

Thanks for the video! Important thing that wasn't mentioned is that the pictured geoid is extremely exaggerated (by a factor of 10000 or so), as the actual sea level differences would be within 200m of each other. So without the exaggeration it would still look like a sphere.
The Earth is unique! Amo la ASE! I LOVE ESA!!!!
And did you know that Earth is geometrically smoother than a billiard ball?

A good talk. Thank you!
