I'm always and forever will be in awe of the events and achievements of the Roman empire from start to finish of its astonishing history.
in Italian we said " fare quadrato" "to make square", when something or someone needs to be protected. just as it happened in this battle at the time of the Republic
Love these battle reports
Crazy question: could the hastati flanks have retreated inwards into the square, inviting the enemy into a kill-box, then flanking around?
Why not have the troops at the back without a fight get out and help crush the enemy line by going around them and help in the front
The Roman Italians were anti Samnitic.
Allowing enemy surrounding troops considering a lethal mistakes 😮
They formed the same box formation during the fight between the Persians when Persian general Surana showed how easy it was to break the Roman formations.
What a noob, what other things did he do? Corner camp?
these small movies suck
