  1. i like this channel but that was painful to watch the only evidence of this battle was written down by tacitus a few decades after the battle supposedly happened no battlefield has been found also caledonia was a very sparsely populated land having no settlements larger than small towns modern historians think that the battle was roman propaganda as the legions couldnt force the local tribes into an all out battle and they were afraid of damaging their reputation there are lots of records stating that the tribes used hit and run tactics nipping at the heels of roman armies and patrols but no large battles only skirmishes and ambushes the romans spent nearly 300 years trying to subjugate the northern tribes they got as far as inverness and built a chain of forts across the eastern part of scotland but the highlands in the west was never conquered because of the mountainous and wet terrain and brutal winters also hadrians wall was built around 130 ad not 1101 ad
