One of the greatest battles in English and European history. Duke William the Bastard lands near Pevensey, Sussex and starts the Norman Conquest of England. Video covers the events leading to the clash between English and Norman forces some kilometres west of Hastings.

  1. It's argued the Normans landed at Hastings, as at the time there was a bay and inland port there. The area was controlled by Pevensy castle, hence the reference to pevency but there was also a large inlet from Pevensy to Bexhill.
    The battle was most likely fought at crowhurst. See secrets of the Norman invasion for more info
