NASA’s Mars Curiosity Rover Report #13 — November 1, 2012
A NASA’s Mars Curiosity rover team member gives an update on developments and status of the planetary exploration mission. The Mars Science Laboratory spacecraft delivered Curiosity to its target area on Mars at 1:31:45 a.m. EDT on Aug. 6, which includes the 13.8 minutes needed for confirmation of the touchdown to be radioed to Earth at the speed of light. The rover will conduct a nearly two-year prime mission to investigate whether the Gale Crater region of Mars ever offered conditions favorable for microbial life.
I am speechless when I see the pictures taken by MAHLI.
How do you guys get those pics back to earth ? What kind of "bandwidth" are you getting knowing that you are transiting via Odyssey / Orbiter ?
Thank you NASA for making us dream every days !!
I want more and longer updates π
JPL/NASA FTW
Very interesting. Enlightening. Thank you!
Good
So, how was the photo at 1:50 taken?
No big mystery: it's a composite of images taken by Curiosity's MAHLI camera, stitched together to make a self-portrait of the rover. Do a search for "nasa mars PIA16239" and you'll find a bunch of hits.
This tool can be used in more than one way.. it can be used to detect the percentage of carbon-14, thus date fossils.. if any are found, that is :-).
YES i want as much information as possible since NASA is the best and only reliable way to find out π SCIENCE FTW and so far, what has been detected in the atmosphere?
** 0_0 ** speechless
What happened to NASA's Mars Curiosity Rover Report #12?
