NASA unveils its new, online application process for those wishing to become NASA astronauts. @ws74rq111 Lots of times that's just because the pads were built like that. Like for the Space Shuttle, since they used the Saturn V pads that were already built they had to roll too. For the Saturns I think the pads were built like that for ease of use, like driving them out to the pad and stuff.
