The Global Precipitation Measurement launched on Feb. 27, 2014 at 1:37 pm EST, from Tanegashima Space Center in Japan on a mission that will set a new standard for precipitation measurements from space. With post launch Excerpts from Caroline Kennedy, U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Japan, Michael Freilich, Director, NASA’s Earth Science Division, Headquarters and Art Azarbarzin, GPM Project Manager, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center.
