From the ashes of Rome – Battle of Tolbiac, 496 AD – Rise of the Frankish Empire
🚩 Today we have the Battle of Tolbiac, which took place in Gaul during/after the collapse of the last fragments of the Western Roman Empire. Despite being fought in AD 496 (or 506, depending on who you ask) it marked the beginning of what would one day become modern France.

🚩 Sources for this one are quite scarce, so it was a bit tricky piecing it together. I hope you'll enjoy the show! Pls like this comment so historymarche finishes the Hannibal series
Nice video. Could you add figures of the worriors to get a better idea of the men clashing at the battles? Think it could help.
Question: Why do you refer to Catholics as Christians? There are two totally separate religions.
trying to link the franks of 496ad to the modern french state is such an anachronistic stretch. De gaulle is a buffoon, not a source

Great
Hopefully you do the Battle of Vouillé some day.
I have to say that this was made quite well. I’m not that familiar with this period of history in Western Europe, but before the battle sequence, I had become very invested in the Alemeni and Clovis. Fascinating that this is such an important battle and it seems to have evaded me thus far. Excellent video 👍
