Work is underway to build the E-ELT, a telescope that could one day find signs of life on distant planets. With a 39-metre mirror, it will be the world’s biggest optical and infrared telescope.

I am a bit curious about the quad-copter for dropping stuff on Mars…Does Mars have enough atmosphere to keep a quad-copter airborne? Especially if it's carrying a load?

You're going to have to be a little more imaginative in the future or your next, larger telescope will be called HLT ( Humongously Large Telescope ) or MLT ( Mindblowingly Large Telescope ) lol.
