It goes to show just how fucked Rome was after Caesar's death that the allies of those who killed Caesar were being proscribed instead of the other way around like I'm sure they considered as the conspiracy settled into place. 91-82 BCE and 49-31 BCE were about as close as Rome got to a warring states period before the 3rd century. Kind of amazing that they pushed that off for about two and half centuries. Personally I think if Sertorius had a bit more luck he could have broken away from the Republic, which might have rapidly undermined the Senate like it did during Caesar's times.
