🚩 Quote from Weapons and Warfare: "Even though the Ottoman government failed to achieve a complete victory in the Long War it still gained considerable advantage by retaining such critical territorial conquests as Kanije and Eğri. This forced the Habsburgs to spend large amounts of money and time to build up a new defensive line against the Ottomans. Another advantage occurred with the influx of large numbers of western mercenaries, who introduced new weapon systems, tactics, and techniques into the Ottoman military. The Ottoman military benefited greatly from these new innovations, thanks to its receptivity and pragmatism. For the first time in Ottoman history, the government enlisted groups of mercenaries who had deserted from the Habsburg camp. The most well-known example involved the desertion of a French mercenary unit in the Papa fortress to the Ottoman side on August 1600. Afterwards, they served on various campaigns during the Long War, and some of them continued to serve well after the end of war. Even though this was extraordinary and not representative of a generalized trend, it demonstrates that the Ottoman government of the seventeenth century was far from being the reactionary and conservative organ that is still a commonly held conviction about its identity today." — read the entire article here: https://weaponsandwarfare.com/2020/05/03/battle-of-keresztes-1596/

Greed is great at writing history
well the casulties on the christian side was not for nothing as they weakend the ottomans so heavily that they went back home
I wonder..your source/s of this battle,,is it wikipedia and/or only European sources?? Why would the Sultan ever consider to flee during this campaign, as a big part of the Ottoman army was still intact? It is obvious that you use biased sources which is a pity.
And why throughout the video, repeatedly emphasising terminology as "Christian" etc.. you don't do this in other videos when Europeans are fighting eachother. To maintain objectivity and trustworthiness of this channel you should put some more effort. This is a channel with historical themes, not a pc game.
Woow.
Battles such as this illustrate the importance of focus, determination, and cohesion. The allied army could have stopped from losing their minds at the thought of looting the Ottoman camp, but they didn’t, and it cost them the battle
I know it's free, but using the Wilhelm Scream nearly 10 times in one video is incredibly annoying and frankly made this hard to watch.
