π© Battle of Halidon Hill (1333) played a big part in the development of English military tactics. Edward III would later use the same defensive setup to confound the mounted chivalry of France at the Battles of CrΓ©cy and Poitiers. This was Edward III’s first battle and the only one that he fought in England. At Halidon Hill he witnessed the strength of the defensive combination of archers and dismounted men-at-arms already used to great effect by Edward Balliol the previous year at the Battle of Dupplin Moor in Scotland.

I do love this channel. Informative and a breath of fresh air.
Roger Mortimer was hanged. Though, in retrospect, he may well have been hung or well endowed.π€π
Either way, great content.
great stuff.!v
Ancient soap opera. I'm out
Idk why Iβm obsessed with English longbowmem. I think itβs because they were my favorite unit in age of empires 2 but the longbowmen are just so freaking cool!
Berwick changed hands many times between England and Scotland. Whoever lost a battle had to keep it.
"They may take our lives, but they'll never take our freedom!"
Environmentally friendly warfare – no bombs or landmines etc
Also only the men die on the battle field – with the "hot chicks" and kids safe untill there is a seige or hostage situation .
Its pretty intense medieval warfare – it actaully took centuries to even get to Scotland vs England .
And then we conquered 1/3 of the world together – with the biggest land mass empire the world has ever seen and will never see one as big again via land mass .
The empire did mellow to create civilization. Its funny alot of these wars within the UK and against the French, Spanish, vikings, Germany, Russia , the Greeks, Romans, Persians etc .all before ..
All through the ages are relevant to how the modern world was forged . Its technology, medicine, education etc everything stemmed from elevation of kingdoms –
I was wondering but will be doing the battle of dupplin moor.
I adore history, but you've made this seem really boring. Well done, that takes some doing.
