🚩 After the defeat at Dara the year prior, the Sassanian King of Kings Kavad I was eager to regain the initiative in the war against the Eastern Roman Empire. His plan was to send an army along the Euphrates and strike deep into Syria, with the ultimate objective being to capture Antioch and cut the Romans off from Palestine and Egypt. But the local Roman garrisons spotted the Persian army and relayed the message to Belisarius, who made way to intercept Kavad’s army in Syria.

  2. It actually blows my mind that a general would let there soldiers fast while chasing an enemy army. That's literally shooting yourself in the proverbial foot before you even get the battlefield right…?

  3. From what I watch on these videos, I see that the persians were equal or slightly more powerful than the romans considering that romans decided to pay tribute to them or not want to fight them in general but lately I have been hearing mostly about persian defeat with this being a pyric victory.
Assuming that this is about a Roman general, did Sassanids win only before and after belasarus?
