Together with UNICEF, ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst calls upon working together for a better world for children. The video is released today – ahead of ‘World Children’s Day’, celebrated in Germany on 20 September every year. The film shows our planet through Alexander’s eyes. During his time in orbit, his view on our world has changed: “We are all children of this world, we are one family”.

  1. For those who don't understand German, here's my attempt at a translation:

Hi, I am Alexander Gerst, ESA astronaut, currently living on the ISS.
As a child I had a dream. I always wished to one day see our Planet from Space.
    Now I'm here.
I'm flying through space and conduct experiments in order to improve life on Earth.
I see our world with different eyes. I see that we, children of Earth, are eventually one single family.
Our home is a small, vulnerable blue Planet.
We must take care of Earth.
We must make the world more fair.
Let us work together and resolve conflict in a peaceful manner.
Live your dreams and please, assist in making Earth a better place for children.
