A More Capable Comm Satellite Launched on This Week @ NASA
NASA’s new advanced communications satellite, TDRS-K, launched from the Kennedy Space Center at 8:48pm EST on Wednesday. TDRS-K is the first of a new generation of comm satellites meant to meet the increased demands of NASA’s growing fleet of research satellites. Also, RRM Update; most powerful engine; “Blueprint for Action;” Hi-C sunshine; Opportunity roves on; “Who is Kristin Morgan?” and more!

Oh… Then I didn't say anything 😛
I have two questions concerning the future of the TDRSS system.
1. Will subsequent satellites use laser communication?
2. Will there be some provision made for tacking spacecraft beyond geosynchronous orbit?
