NASA’s new advanced communications satellite, TDRS-K, launched from the Kennedy Space Center at 8:48pm EST on Wednesday. TDRS-K is the first of a new generation of comm satellites meant to meet the increased demands of NASA’s growing fleet of research satellites.   1. I have two questions concerning the future of the TDRSS system.
    1. Will subsequent satellites use laser communication?
    2. Will there be some provision made for tacking spacecraft beyond geosynchronous orbit?
