European Astro Pi Challenge | Inspiring young women in science
CSA astronaut Jenni Sidey inspires young women in science in this video about her role models, in particular the achievements of women in STEM as a result of coding.
She discusses why she thinks computing and digital making skills are so important, and why the European Astro Pi Challenge is a great opportunity for young people to learn to code.
The challenge is an ESA Education programme run in collaboration with the Raspberry Pi Foundation, which offers students and young people the amazing opportunity to conduct scientific investigations in space, by writing computer programs that run on Raspberry Pi computers on board the International Space Station.

I m esa too
lots of journalists are going to be coding soon! cool!
Que buena explicacion , excelente
Maybe… just maybe, most of them are not interested in STEM. Why is it leftists want to force people into careers they really don't want? It reminds me of the Soviet Union. Vlad, they said, you are going to be an engineer. I don't want to be an engineer. You will be because the state needs engineers. So, the state ends up with Vlad, the unhappy, unproductive, and very cranky engineer, working at the rocket factory.
Oh by the way… this is very patronizing. What you are saying is women need almost daily affirmation to do the "hard" things. Because you are female, you need us to help you.
Good, the more men will be forced out of science, the better.
That's so wonderful!
Awesome stuff, well done ESA!
ESA ….this is the inspiration that every people want's in their journey…..thank you @ESA
I'm really interested in what I leared from school but no chance. The good this program to give opportunity to young pepople who are interested in space. 😉
There are coders and there are programmers.
There is contradictory news about the reference to global inflation 14 billion years ago
1-There is news that the Big Bang echo is evidence of inflation
2-But the second news says there is no evidence of inflation
Because the gravitational waves are the dust of those galaxies only
The first news contradicts the second news.
We ask you to remove the annoying contradictions
My question is whether the first news is true or the second news?
Please space scientists verify the correct news
Please send this question to space scientists

Isn't it important to inspire everyone, not just women?
There are good biological reasons for why women does not go into careers like this, most of them want to spend more time at home with the family where as men more easily sacrifice time with family to work.
It's also why women on average earn less per year than men, they work less and don't go for the same positions as men do, because it requires more time away from the family.
My mother and her generation fought so that gender was NOT a factor, now in 2019 gender is again a factor.. It's quite pathetic.
