NASA’S SHUTTLE ENDEAVOUR LAUNCHES TO COMPLETE JAPANESE MODULE
CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — Space shuttle Endeavour and its seven-member crew launched at 6:03 p.m. EDT Wednesday from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The mission will deliver the final segment to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s Kibo laboratory and a new crew member to the International Space Station.
Endeavour’s 16-day mission includes five spacewalks and the installation of two platforms outside the Japanese module. One platform is permanent and will allow experiments to be directly exposed to space. The other is an experiment storage pallet that will be detached and returned with the shuttle. During the mission, Kibo’s robotic arm will transfer three experiments from the pallet to the exposed platform. Future experiments also can be moved to the platform from the inside of the station using the laboratory’s airlock.
Shortly before liftoff, Commander Mark Polansky thanked the teams that helped make the launch possible.
“Endeavour has patiently waited for this,” said Polansky. “We’re ready to go, and we’re going to take all of you with us on a great mission.”
So i herd you like spaceships, check my video i just made! 😀 If you dig science and good music like "The Quiet Place" 😉
The engine start at 0:56 looks so cool it's almost unreal. Something you would expect from special effects, only better.
This was a triumph. Im making a note here HUGE SUCCESS.
Hawk at 1:20 is like "what ever ,check me out " 😉
I remember being at Disneyland on the day of this launch, hearing a loud noise, turning around and seeing this shuttle take off. Amazing.
The mission control's voice sounds sexy 🙂
@32KOAST?You do relieze if it wasnt for that waste of time, you wouldnt be typing that comment, if it wasnt for that waste of time, you woulsnt have TV's, Internet, Modern medicine/machinery. The pollution part it total BS, the smoke you see from the 3 engines is Hydrogen and Oxygen…. hence WATER VAPOR.
Plus, if you think that we should stay on Earth and never think about Human Space Research and Stellar Expansion, i look foward to punching you when the human race goes Extinct because we exhausted ALL of our resources and we have nowhere to go because it was a "waste of time"
I watched this fly over Ireland about 18 minutes after launch. You could see the booster and shuttle after separation, shooting across the night sky faster than anything I've ever seen. I think it would be cool to go visit California and get a second look.
Did you see at 0:58 the RCS thruster protection becoming destroyed?
