IEEE InGARSS 2023: Colocated European Space Agency (ESA) Workshop
This is a colocated workshop with 2023 IEEE India Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (InGARSS 2023) organized at IIIT Bangalore on December 10, 2023.
Welcome to the European Space Agency (ESA) Workshop, where experts converge to explore the latest advancements in polarimetry, PolInSAR, and SAR tomography across Europe. This workshop serves as a platform to discuss the main achievements of POLINSAR 2023 and the remarkable progress made in these domains over the last two decades.
ESA’s pioneering P-band SAR mission, Biomass, takes center stage, shedding light on its polarimetric and interferometric capabilities. Moreover, attendees will gain insights into ESA’s commitment to education, training, and international collaboration in the polarimetry domain, with discussions on current status, future plans, and opportunities for engagement.
The workshop also delves into the diverse applications of SAR polarimetry, showcasing its versatility and relevance across various fields. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a practical tutorial in Python, led by esteemed speakers, offering hands-on experience in implementing polarimetric techniques.
Our distinguished lineup of speakers includes:
– Dr. Carlos Lopez-Martinez from RSLab (Remote Sensing Laboratory), Signal Theory and Communication Department TSC, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya Barcelona Tech UPC, Barcelona, Spain.
– Dr. Francesco Sarti, Scientific Coordinator of the Education and Training Activities at the Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes-ESA/ESRIN.
– Prof. Dr. Irena Hajnsek, Professor of Earth Observation at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zürich Institute of Environmental Engineering, and Head of Polarimetric SAR Interferometry at the German Aerospace Center Microwaves and Radar Institute.
– Dr. Klaus Scipal, SMOS and BIOMASS Mission Manager at ESA/ESRIN.
– Dr. Magdalena Fitrzyk, Remote Sensing Project Scientist at the Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes – RSAC for ESA/ESRIN.
– Dr. Armando Marino, Associate Professor at the University of Stirling, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Stirling, UK.
Join us for an engaging exchange of ideas, insights, and practical knowledge at the Colocated ESA Workshop. Don’t miss this opportunity to stay abreast of the latest developments in polarimetry and SAR technology!
